As far back as I can remember, after becoming an adult, my weight began fluctuating. In 1996 my weight had hit an all time high and I knew it was time to make some changes. I was in my late thirties at the time and was about to transition to a size 20. I'm sorry, but that was NOT going to happen on my watch!
I went on a 30 day fruit and vegetable fast and at the end of the fast I had lost a ton of weight which inspired me to keep on going! I started exercising on a regular basis and once the smoke had settled, I was comfortably in a size 8. I couldn't have been happier! I maintained the size 8 for several years and eventually got married. After marriage, my eating habits changed and before I knew it, I had crept up to a size 12. I changed my eating habits again and began exercising again, (I had fallen off the band wagon), and eventually dropped down again to somewhere between a size 8-10. I maintained for a few years and felt the weight creeping up once again. I decided to take up jogging and ended up dropping the weight again. (I told you I've always had this weight fluctuation issue, which by the way is not good.) Anyway, once I started jogging, I stayed pretty trim. I was at a nice size 12. I was doing just fine until my back started bothering me and I eventually barely jogged anymore. I'm sure you've figured it out by now, yes, I started putting the weight on again.
In 2017, I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida and once I was settled in, I began running at least five days a week, three to four miles. I also had become a pescatarian, (vegetarian that eats fish). Even though I was running five days a week, three to four miles and my diet primarily consisted of fruit, vegetables and fish only, I was not shedding an INCH! I finally concluded that age had caught up with me and my metabolism was at ROCK BOTTOM! When my church did the 40-day Lenten Fast where we only ate fruit and vegetables, (I cut out the fish), and after the fast was over and I had not lost a SINGLE POUND, I was devastated! I concluded that my days of shedding the extra pounds were OVER!
Well, as life would have it, Hurricane Michael struck Panama City in October 2018 and I had to relocate once again. In January of 2019, the church that I was attending at the time went on a 21 day Daniel's Fast; i.e., fruit and vegetables ONLY. Since I already was basically only eating fruit and vegetables, there was nothing left for me to give up but the fish. I didn't feel like that was enough and it occurred to me to remove ALL ANIMAL PRODUCTS from my diet for 21 days and the rest is history! I removed cheese, eggs, butter, milk, etc. from my diet. Along with that, I walked at least 2 miles, five days a week. Mind you, I didn't jog but walked. I had my annual physical about the same time that I started the fast and my doctor was seeing me around every 3-4 weeks. Guess what y'all? Every time I paid my doctor a visit I had lost at least 2-3 pounds. Within about six months, I had lost right at twenty pounds. Have you figured it out by now? It was due to me removing the ANIMAL PRODUCTS from my diet! I have NEVER looked back! Even when I stopped walking for a while, I still continued to lose weight. Needless to say, becoming a VEGAN (eating plant based only) has changed my life! I am in excellent health! Becoming a VEGAN is one of the BEST things that I could have done for myself! I look great and I feel great! And guess what? I was almost sixty when I became a VEGAN! It's never too late...
