"You CAN Be In Spite Of"
CHowellMotivates was established in August of 2015. It all began when Cynthia Mobley Howell heard a clarion voice as she was sleeping one night. The voice plainly said, "You CAN Be In Spite Of", with emphasis on the word 'can'. Upon awaking from her sleep, Cynthia continued to hear those words resonating in her spirit and she knew those words demanded a call to action. She began seeking God about what she was supposed to do and CHowellMotivates was birthed. Yes, her assignment was to MOTIVATE and ENCOURAGE those who needed it when facing the GIANTS in their lives and to ASSURE them that, "You CAN Be In Spite Of."
Cynthia began reflecting on how, from a very early age, she had always been able to encourage others. She remembered the times when she would receive phone calls , sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, and the person on the other end would just need to talk. That person was often dealing with a complicated situation that had pushed their back up against the wall and they were feeling extremely discouraged about their situation and just didn't know how they could rise above what they were encountering. Cynthia would always find the time to lend a listening ear. And as intimidating as the situation may have appeared to the person with whom she was speaking, she would invariably help them to see the light at the end of the tunnel. That's because Cynthia has always been a VERY positive person. It never failed that by the time she was finished talking to the individual, they were able to see a ray of sunshine and began to believe they could move past their current circumstance. Cynthia didn't always tell them what they WANTED to hear but she sometimes had to tell them what they NEEDED to hear! Her candidness and frankness definitely served a purpose. She eventually realized that she had the gift of encouragement and didn't mind using it.
Cynthia was born and raised in Panama City, Florida, dubbed the "Home of the World's Most Beautiful Beaches." Her Daddy and Mama, Oliver and Florence Mobley were devout Christians. She was one of four siblings and had three older brothers, James, Billy, and Dwight. Interestingly, all of her brothers suffered from mental illness. Cynthia is the author of the book, Crazy Didn't Get Me , which will be released in God's timing.
Cynthia always had the gift of gab and was always getting in trouble in school for talking too much. She didn't only talk a lot but she talked LOUD! She also had an almost photographic memory. So, her gift of gab coupled with her great memory inspired her Mama to have her memorize the names of the Books of the Bible IN ORDER! She made her first public debut at a Church Convention where she was placed on program to recite the Books of the Bible. Wearing her can can dress, she stepped up in front of that crowd of over 200 people and fluently recited the names of the sixty-six Books of the Bible in order! The crowd was AMAZED! After that, she would continue to be placed on program every time there was a Church Convention to recite the names of the Books of the Bible. I would venture to say that these became her initial speaking engagements.
In 1985, it became apparent why Cynthia had always had the gift of gab along with volume because that was the year that she was called to preach. She preached her initial sermon at King's Plaza Church of God and it was entitled, "Put On the Whole Armour of God", Ephesians 6:10-18. She received her Ministerial License under the tutelage of the late Bishop Ernest Page, III. She later became an Ordained Minister in 1990 under the tutelage of the late Bishop Daniel White. Since that time she has preached at many churches and made history by breaking the barrier after becoming the first female to be invited to speak at the Allegheny Union Baptist Association Annual Prayer Breakfast in Pittsburgh, PA.
A few of her credits are listed below.
Cynthia has no doubt in her mind what her purpose is in life and vows to spend the remainder of her days fulfilling her call.
She is the wife of Lamont D. Howell, the proud mother of Cyan and Kionna, and the doting "GlamMa" of Jayonna.
